Cars in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Police stated they were alerted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.

A high-ranking representative said the attack made him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
